Cylindrical Roller Bearings

Cylindrical roller bearings are available in many designs, series and sizes. The major design differences between the bearings presented in this section are in: the number of roller rows (one, two or four) the type of cage (with, without or special designs) Bearings with cage can accommodate heavy radial loads, rapid accelerations and high speeds.
Full complement bearings (without cage) incorporate a maximum number of rollers and are therefore suitable for very heavy radial loads at moderate speeds

Spherical Thrust Bearings

Spherical roller thrust bearings have specially designed raceways and asymmetrical rollers. The bearings can accommodate axial loads acting in one direction and simultaneously acting radial loads. The load is transmitted between the raceways via the rollers at an angle to the bearing axis, while the flange guides the rollers. High load carrying capacity The large number of rollers, which have an optimum conformity with the washer raceways, enables the bearings to accommodate heavy axial and simultaneously acting radial loads.

Spherical Roller Bearings

Spherical Roller Bearings are designed to work in applications where severe misalignment exists whether from mounting or shaft deflection and with relatively heavy radial loads and some axial loads in either direction. They are also extremely resistant to shock loads and their self-aligning feature allows full capacity loading despite shaft deflection. They are very similar in purpose to Self-Aligning Double Row Ball Bearings, except the Spherical Roller Bearings are designed to be more robust by carry heavier loads but at lower maximum speeds.

Roller Thrust Bearings

A cylindrical roller thrust bearing is a particular type of roller bearing. Like other roller bearings, they permit rotation between parts, but they are designed to support a high axial load while doing this (parallel to the shaft). Higher speed applications require oil lubrication. Generally, they are composed of two washers (raceways) and the cylindrical roller elements which are typically caged. As opposed to roller thrust bearings, ball thrust bearings can generally operate at higher speeds but at lower loads.

Angular Cantact Bearings

Angular contact ball bearings have inner and outer ring raceways that are displaced relative to each other in the direction of the bearing axis. This means that these bearings are designed to accommodate combined loads, i.e. simultaneously acting radial and axial loads. The axial load carrying capacity of angular contact ball bearings increases as the contact angle increases.

Needle Bearings

Needle roller bearings are a bearing that is classified as either radial or thrust depending on the direction of the load being supported. Needle roller bearings include bearings whose rollers slightly exceed the size range of needle rollers as stipulated by ISO. Needle roller bearings include drawn cup and solid radial bearings, as well as application-specific cam followers, and roller followers. Thrust bearings include thrust needle bearings.

Spherical Plain Bearings

Shown in the figures, types EA, C, CD, CA, which are designed for high load capacity, are available. Types EA, C, and CD have pressed steel cages; and type CA has machined brass cages. Type EA has especially high load capacity, features low torque, and has a high-strength cage. An oil groove and holes are provided in the outer ring to supply lubricant and the bearing numbers are suffixed with E4.

Super Precision Taper Roller Bearings

Bearings of this type use conical rollers guided by a back-face rib on the cone. These bearings are capable of taking high radial loads and axial loads in one direction. In the HR series, the rollers are increased in both size and number giving it an even higher load capacity. They are generally mounted in pairs in a manner similar to single-row angular contact ball bearings. In this case, the proper internal clearance can be obtained by adjusting the axial distance between the cones or cups of the two opposed bearings.

Adapters Withdrawal Sleeves Locknuts and Lockwashers

Lock nuts are used to locate bearings onto a shaft. Additionally, they can be used to mount bearings with a tapered bore onto tapered shaft seats and adapter sleeves, and to dismount bearings from withdrawal sleeves. Lock nuts are also frequently used to secure gears, belt pulleys and other machine components have to be secured to prevent unintentional loosening, by a locking device that engages a keyway in the shaft or key slot in the adapter sleeve, or a locking mechanism integrated in the nut.

Bearing

The bearing unit is a combination of a radial ball bearing, seal, and a housing of high-grade cast iron or pressed steel, which comes in various shapes. The outer surface of the bearing and the internal surface of the housing are spherical, so that the unit is self-aligning. The inside construction of the ball bearing for the unit is such that steel balls and retainers of the same type as in series 62 and 63 of the deep groove ball bearing are used. A duplex seal consisting of a combination of an oil-proof synthetic rubber seal and a slinger is provided on both sides.
